Inspired by our Christmas Celebration, we are delighted to present a concert which celebrates the change of seasons in words and music. Staged in the week of Shakespeares' birthday, the programme will feature music by Mendelssohn and Schumann with words from Shakespeare and other surprises yet to be announced! Following the concert, tea and refreshments will be served in the church to all members of the audience.
Our Spring Matinee will begin at 3pm and last for about 75 minutes with no interval. Concert programmes are included in your ticket price. Following the concert, you are welcome to join us for a light springtime tea, included in the price of your ticket, with gluten free and vegan options available. This concert has now sold out so if you are unable to attend, please contact us so we can pass your ticket to someone else.
Car parking is available adjacent to the church, either on the road or in the car park opposite. For those coming by public transport, the nearest station is Godalming. The church postcode is
GU8 6BG
All seats are unreserved. Please have either your card ticket or online booking ready for us to check on the door. If you happen to come without your ticket, don't worry - we'll have a list on the door of everyone who has booked.
We are so very grateful to everyone in Shackleford who enables us to present these concerts. Do please show your support through our concluding cash collection all of which is donated to the church.
Daughter of Shackleford and internationally acclaimed pianist, Lucy returns home to lead a concert of springtime delights both well known and less discovered in words and music, this time in our 'home' church of St Mary's Shackleford where there is more space for all to enjoy Lucy's performances.
From War and Peace to Rebecca, Death in Paradise to Gogglebox, Joanna is known and loved by audiences everywhere for her wonderful character interpretation, from the serenity of Shakespearer to the humour of Noel Coward. She delighted our audiences at Christmas and we're thrilled to welcome her back!
Widely acclaimed as one of the finest composers, arrangers and pianists in the country we are delighted to welcome Richard to Shackleford Concerts, both to perform solo and to share a piano stool with Lucy in piano duets which created such a hit in our Christmas concert. Expect joy and not a few surprises!
From the much loved Ash in BBC Drama 'Hustle' to prominence in the acclaimed 'Spooks' and more recently 'Sherwood' Robert Glenister is a familiar television face with an outstanding live theatre career. He has performed with Lucy many times and we are delighted to welcome him to Shackleford Concerts.
We are delighted that acclaimed English tenor Daniel Norman can join us to perform in a Spring Matinee. From performances with ENO to appearances on concert platforms across the UK and beyond, Dan's abilitiy to communicate through song has been recognised by critics and audiences alike.
Please note that in a change to some early publicity, this concert will take place in St Nicholas Church Peper Harow and not in St Mary's Shackleford. We very much hope to return to St Mary's for a Composer Portrait Concert in October, and remain very grateful indeed to everyone at Peper Harow for enabling us to stage our Spring Matinee in this beautiful church.
Shackleford Concerts is funded by the generosity our audience and the support of our artists who perform for reduced fees. So we can plan realistically for the future, we wish to build reserves to cover our costs and programme with confidence. Our FOUNDER FRIENDS MEMBERSHIP will help us do this.
Shackleford Concerts is made possible by the great support we receive from the Rev Hannah Moore and her team. Our concerts take place at St Mary's Church Shackleford, and at St Nicholas Church Peper Harow. There is adjacent free parking at both churches.
